Summer Day Camp
KIDS RANCH Summer Day Camp serves the areas most vulnerable children ages 7-10. Children who have adult stressors in their lives such as: poverty, homelessness, incarceration of a parent, death, parental substance abuse, bullying, long term illness of a parent or guardian, food insecurity, and physical, emotional and sexual, abuse. Kids Ranch serves four Sauk County School Districts (Baraboo, Reedsburg, Sauk-Prairie, and Wisconsin Dells) and the Ho-Chunk Nation.
Children attend KIDS RANCH summer programming for eight days and are treated to hikes, gardening, conservation techniques, and outdoor games with our Naturalist. A team of mental wellness professionals includes an Art Therapist, Certified Social Worker, and a retired Child & Family Therapist, who work with the children on mindfulness, yoga, and providing them with tools they can use to cope with the adult stressors in their lives. The Education Coordinator evaluates the children's literacy skills and if remediation is needed they are referred to the KIDS RANCH school-year literacy program.
KIDS RANCH also uses animal therapy to work with the children and has once again partnered with B.R.E.A.THE (Baraboo River Equine Assisted Therapies, Inc.) for the horse therapy component of programming. We are also working with Dogs on Call to provide reading therapy dogs for the children we serve.
