Summer Day Camp
During the summer months, Kids Ranch offers Summer Day Camp on our beautiful 50-acre ranch in rural Sauk County, Wisconsin. Children participate in a two-week day camp that includes hands-on nature experiences, gardening, art, music, and recreation, along with continued literacy tutoring and supportive programming. Groups are deliberately small to allow for individualized attention and support.
Summer Day Camp is offered in five separate 8-day sessions each summer, with no more than 16 children enrolled in each session. Four sessions generally align with the four school districts Kids Ranch serves, and one mixed session is typically offered near the end of summer before the school year begins. This structure allows Kids Ranch to provide consistent routines, individualized attention, and a supportive camp experience for each group of children.
Summer Day Camp staff include an education coordinator, a retired family therapist, and program specialists who support daily activities. Trained volunteer tutors and junior counselors also assist with programming and provide additional support for children throughout the camp experience.
Kids Ranch partners with B.R.E.A.T.H.E. (Baraboo River Equine Assisted Therapies, Inc.) for the horse therapy component of summer camp. We also work with Dogs on Call to provide reading therapy dogs for children during camp. Animal-assisted activities have long been an important part of Kids Ranch programming, supporting engagement, connection, and learning.

Do you enjoy spending time outdoors with children? Kids Ranch welcomes volunteers for Summer Day Camp.
Volunteers may help children tend the garden, explore nature trails, enjoy creative activities, or read together outdoors. Summer Day Camp is a hands-on, supportive environment where caring adults help create meaningful experiences for children.

How Our Programs Work Together
Kids Ranch provides coordinated support for children and families through literacy programming, mental health, social-emotional support, and Summer Day Camp. Literacy programming supports children who benefit from additional help with reading. Mental health and social-emotional support offers tools and guidance that strengthen emotional well-being for children and families. Summer Day Camp provides a safe, supportive setting where literacy and mental health programming come together in support of our mission of building caring, capable, and confident kids.
